Farmer's Market

On a beautiful sunny Friday, October 9th, Thanksgiving weekend, we spent a wonderful day at a transitional market.  It was transitional because it is thanksgiving day, for many of the venders it is the last market day of this year, for at least one vender, it was their last day at any future market, and for others there is some question as to whether they will return next year because of the scheduled water main construction planned for just about all of next year through the site.  The next two weeks will see fewer venders and it is likely to be colder.  I handed out a “thank you” flyer with updated data on our activities to many of the venders and a host of visitors and donors.  We gathered 883 pounds of produce and delivered this to the food bank throughout and at the end of the market.  Thank you to John and Lowell for their assistance.  We spoke to 53 people including 9 venders, 13 donors, and 31 visitors.  I printed 50 flyers thanking all and updating our activities and have handed out about half of them.  We also had a pleasant time talking to Meagan, Charles and Grant at the food bank as we unloaded and weighed produce.  It was a pleasant day in which we all took time to share pleasantries and thanksgiving together!

Regards

George
